Came across this sleeper when I was on my daily conquest of finding series for Tha BakaPedia. 

Summary
In search for Araki Genzo, George Kodama finds himself in the small town of Kimujuku. George quickly realizes that he is unwelcome and is warned to leave as soon as possible. With two rival syndicates roaming the streets and a dark violent past, the town of Kimujuku isn’t what it appears to be. George challenges the town of Kimujuku in order to reveal the towns dark hidden past and discover the truth.

To the ending of a series that cracked me up!  Kanamemo was one of the Summer Releases that literally took me by surprise.  It had me waiting for the next episode to come out just so that I could watch the girl’s zany antics. 

Recap:

Kana lost her grandmother, the only living relative she had and she found herself facing the world alone.  She comes across the newspaper office where they were advertising for a new person with room and board provided wit the position.  Just as she was about to go in and inquire about it, Yume and Yuki comes out and the two kisses shocking the crap out of Kana.  She decides that was not the place for her!  Going from business to business asking for a job with room and board, she got nothing.  Evening time rolls in, and she’s sitting in a park with (later to be named) Bunta, and she begins to sing a merrily song that she will be okay until Yume hits her with her bike.  An unconscious Kana was taken to the Newspaper office where she recovers to find Haruka all over her [ha!].  Kana was about to run out when she realizes it was the office from earlier that day.  Telling Dairi that she will cook their meals and work very hard if she gave her the job.  Dairi hires Kana and the crazy, silliness begins!

Episode 2 begins with Yuki visiting him at night asking for his help.  Ichiro stubbornly tells her he doesn’t want to.  The next morning, Ichiro’s Mother is profusely apologizing to a neighbor because Ichiro wrote on the woman’s dog! O.O

Comedy, Supernatural

Creating pages for my other site, Tha BakaPedia, I’ve come across series, ovas and movies that I never heard of, much less viewed.  Came across this gem when I was doing a search of Anime Series.

The story revolves around a 9 year old named Hanada Ichiro who is a menace in the area he lives in, a small town in rural Japan.  One day he gets hit by a truck.  Temporarily, he died but is informed by a Ghost that it wasn’t his time yet.  The accident causes him to see ghosts and monsters.  These entities have requests for him to fulfilled which annoys Ichiro.  He has no choice but to fulfill this wishes — whether he likes it or not.  He gets help from his friends, Souta and Kei-chan and his dog Jiro.

Another good series that has ended.

Canaan was based off  the scenario that was created for the Nintendo Wii visual novel 428: Fūsasareta Shibuya de. 

In the present day, terrorism is on the rise and the Ua Virus* – a biological agent with a 100% kill rate – has been unleashed into the populace. In Shanghai, Canaan is a near-unstoppable soldier who roams the streets, always in the path of a bullet. She is a Synesthetist – a person able to use all five senses at once – who harbors a burning desire for revenge and has a past shrouded in mystery. While the Ua Virus infects more people in the city, others cross paths with Canaan including Minoru, a freelance journalist; Maria, Canaan’s close friend who was infected with the Ua Virus and lost her memory of the incident; and The Snakes, a shady and violent group with mysterious motives. Danger lies at every turn for Canaan and ultimately the rest of mankind.

*Terms for victims infected with the UA Virus:

• Borner:  Borners are individuals infected with the Ua virus but managed to survive. As a result, their bodies mutate and possess unusual abilities, with few exceptions (Yunyun, who gained an extra appendix due to the infection, does not have any special ability, for example). When someone becomes a Borner, blood vessels from a random part of his/her body would surface to form a mark with the shape of a flower. In order to suppress the virus, Borners require regular intakes of a special medication, or they will still die.
• Unbloom:  Unblooms are also victims of Ua virus infections who survived before the advent of the anti-virus. They, too, have blood vessels from a random part of their bodies surfacing to form a mark with the shape of a flower. Unlike Borners, however, they did not gain any special ability or otherwise mutate except that they become deathly vulnerable to UV rays and outside noises. Those individuals who venture outside the Factory must wear masks that look like a mascot head costume (and serve to shield the wearers from the afore-mentioned hazards), the removal of which invariably ends up killing them.

Another way of looking at the series:  it takes you through the twirls and whirls of people that were affected by the UA Virus that was distributed by the organization Snake.

Had to miss out on the New York Anime Festival 2009 happening this weekend, I’ve been watching the threads to see what’s the latest to be acquired.  And as I imagined that they would, Funimation has acquired some series.

Thus far (because it’s still one more day before the festival is over) Funimation has acquired Initial D: First, Second, Extra, Third and Fourth Stage along with the Initial D Movie. 

Also to be acquired is X TV series.
