They really changed it from the original novel. The basic premise is the same, but they added a ton of things that didn't happen in the novel and changed the order. I guess since a lot of Japanese viewers have read the novel, they wanted to spice it up a little. It's still pretty entertaining so far. Watched the ep last night.
