Kimi ni Todoke Ep. 5: Determination

KimiEp5-main

Sawako is determined to set things straight regarding the rumors.

Sawako is having dinner and her thoughts are on what to do about the rumors.  Her mother snaps her out of her thoughts by telling her that she was spilling her rice.  Sawako quickly recovers and tell her parents that she was thinking about the tests that were to take place the next day.  Although it was a lie she told, her real thoughts were on what was she going to do when she saw Yano, Yoshida and Kazehaya.  How would she be able to face them.

The next day, Sawako enters the classroom and realized that test days, the students sat according to their student number.  She wondered who was sitting in her seat and see Yano-chan.  Without saying good morning, she proceeded to her designated seat.  Yano looks up and sees her and is shocked that she did not say anything nor look her way.  Yoshida-chan comes in and Yano tells her about it.  While taking the test, Sawako reflects back on the good times she had with everyone and that the seat of hers surrounded by everyone seemed like a distant memory.  The hardest thing was for to remembered what it was like to be alone with no friends and the thought of going back that was something that she did not want to do.  She is so sad that she begin to cry during the test.

I started crying too!  T.T

Sawako crosses path with Kazehaya-kun on her way home.  He wanted to know why she was avoiding him.  She started off by telling him not to talk to her but realized that was not what she meant, nor wanted to say and burst out into tears.  She told him that if he kept talking to her he would lose his popularity.  Kazehaya yells at her that he does not care what others are saying or about his popularity and that if he wants to talk to her [Sawako] he will.  This came as a shock to Sawako because I guess she didn’t expect those words to come out of his mouth.  She felt relieved.  Kazehaya buys her a drink and she’s so sweet, that she’s gives him the correct change for it.  After telling him the whole story about the rumors, Kazehaya tells Sawako what if they were the one to shy away from and that was something she didn’t want.  He goes on to tell her that she should talk it out with Yano and Yoshida-chan about everything.  He also forbade her to ignored him anymore.  Ha!  That scene was as funny as her paying him for the drink.   Feeling better and determined to talk to them, Sawaka takes her leave.  Kazehaya wishes her good luck.

How cute is that?

Meanwhile, Yano-chan is on her way to the library where she is stopped by Pin.  Yano-chan tells him it’s his fault without telling him what he was at fault for.  She has a flash back when she and Yoshida saw Sawako talking to the female student in the hallway.  Yano felt that if Pin hadn’t dragged them away to give a playbook to Ryuu, then she would have been able to eavesdrop on the conversation to the end.  Pin tells her don’t go blaming others and then with is silly self follow it by saying even if he’s the one to blame!  LOL!  At library, she finds all the Japanese Ghost Stories books that Sawako had checked out and wondered by.  She then remembered that she told Sawako to use her appearance to her advantage.  She didn’t think that Sawako would had taken her seriously.

The scene cuts to Yoshida sitting outside her house in a slump.  Ryuu was jogging and came up to her and asked her if she needed to be cheered up.  He goes on to asked if she was sitting there depressed regarding the rumors of her being a delinquent.  Ryuu told Yoshida that he does not believe that Sawako started the rumors.  Yoshida yells back that she was talking to a girl that she didn’t know and that she didn’t know what Sawako meant by saying “Sorry” when Yano and she ran into her that morning and the fact that she didn’t get a clear answer when she asked Sawako if she liked both her and Yoshida was bugging the crap out of her.  Before leaving, Ryuu told her she wouldn’t find out the answers if she doesn’t ask Sawako directly about them.  He then said that he would cheer her up if Sawako did say that she didn’t like her.  In her room, she looks at the study guide that Sawako made for her and seeing a funny picture that Sawako drawn sent her into a uproar of laughter.  But, she also starting crying afterwards.

This episode, Yoshida beats Sawako in the department of funny faces!  LOL!!!

Anyhoo, the two girls meet up and they discussed Sawako.  The two came to the conclusion that she was their friend and that they were worried about her.  As the two were talking, Sawako is staring up and the night sky thinking of those two too, and what she plans to say to them.

The next day while in the bathroom stall, Sawako wonders if Yano and Yoshida will talk to her if they met.  Outside the stall, she can hear girls talking about the rumor regarding Yano and Yoshida being her backups.  Sawako bursts out of the stall and tells them that it’s all a misunderstanding.  One girl backs Sawako into the wall and asked her if she was talking about the delinquent (Yoshida) and the whore (Yano) shocking the heck out of Sawako.

Thus… ending of episode.

This is really one of my favorite series of the Fall releases.  I know, I know… said it countless times already.  But it really is though!  One of the reasons is that it really broke the monopoly of “school life” series that’s been shown thus far…  No ecchi, no magical girls, no harem-typed boy where all the girls love and want to be with or screw him and he’s walking around wondering which one to be with or screw in return.  A bit harsh of a statement I know… whatevur!!!!  >=)  Kimi ni Todoke is just a good wholesome story telling about a girl who’s misunderstood and the power of friendship and her first crush – even though she hasn’t realize it herself yet!  And I’m so glad it was turned into a series.  Yay!

Okay until next episode,

Laters! ;-)
